Easter Recap

One of the best things about being a new parent is every time you turn around you are experiencing a "First."  And it's, like, such a big freakin' deal.  I never thought I'd be that corny parent who thought so, either!  Alas, this month we celebrated Abby's first Easter, her first petting zoo, and her first visit to the real zoo, among many other things...

This year, I helped plan my work's "Beeping Egg Hunt" for the all the young blind kiddos in the district.  We go all out with crafts, music, petting zoo, etc.  Abby got to come, and it was really fun!

Here's Abby with the animals:

"Eeek!"
She got really pumped to see the chick, to which I said, "Quack, Quack!" I would be wrong.

Not so sure about you!

"Mom, can we keep him?"

I am STILL laughing about Abby's picture with this authentic-looking Easter bunny at the event.  My district keeps it classy, ok?  I seriously think this guy is right off the set of "Bad Santa's" sequel "Bad Bunny."  Like I said, classy.

For Easter weekend, we celebrated in with Jared's family in Abilene.  We had the blessing of sharing in Austin's baptism, which was really special.   We also took Abby to the zoo, which she loved!

Flamingos were her fave.

In every picture, sweet "Lita" is looking at Abby.  She LOVES that girl.

Love my fam.

Checking out the turtles!

Gramma (My mom) made Abby an adorable Easter basket.  Abby loved finding her treasures from the Easter Bunny.

Adorable bunny bib, complements of Aunty Liz of "Bizzy Baby"
"Look, Mom!  The same little leggings you had in the cart at Target the other day!"

Easter morning was a little chaotic, and Abby didn't last very long during the service at church.  But we looked cute, right?   I'm pretty sure Jesus understands. :)

I love this one because this is our life....Abby is always on the go!

Right before she crapped her pants.

Back in Dallas, unpacking after the long weekend....I turned around to find THIS:

Smiley girl.

8 months!

So, I feel kind of bloggy-cliche doing the month-by-month baby posts....but not enough to stop me from doing them! :) That being said...

Abigail turned 8 months old this week! The cutesy lie-on-the blanket-with-the-doll pictures were not gonna happen, but I do feel like the following pictures accurately sum up life with my 8 month old!

The STATS:
  • 17 lbs, about 26 inches
  • Abby eats about every 4 hours and has solids 3 times per day.
  • Abby takes two naps a day, and she is still waking up one time at night to eat.
  • Bedtime is about 6:30-7:00, depending on the day, and our early bird likes to wake up about 5:30 am.
  • She is crawling, pulling up, cruising, and standing alone for 10-2o seconds!
  • She says "Dadadadada" all day long with a few rasberries, lalalalas, yayayayayas, and babababas thrown in.
  • Abby loves to play with her books, her stacking cups, and teething toys (no teeth yet!). Her favorite things to play with are the items in each room that you would prefer she did not touch.
We are such proud, happy parents....our little Abigail is such a HAPPY, FUN, and SMART little girl!

The Green Smoothie

Well, I talk about it enough, so I thought I would go ahead and post the Green Smoothie recipe that is my obsession.

I got the original recipe here. Major Pinterest Win.

You should try it.

Here's my version:

In a blender, I throw in:
-Frozen Fruit (I get the frozen bag of pineapple, mango, strawberry, and peaches from Sam's)
-several handfuls of Kale or Spinach
- 2 bananas
-some flax seed
-pineapple juice
-water
-some mint if I have some

Blend!

At first I had to ignore the color, and now I embrace it. Heck, yeah I'm getting all my fruit and veggies for the day in one delicious smoothie!

Enjoy!

Many Faces

Abby has got the BEST facial expressions. (or at least I think so.) These pics aren't the best because they are from my iPad, but they make me smile so much that I thought I'd share.

Best,

Abby is 7 Months!

My sweet girl turned 7 months old this week!

She is such a fun girl. She is a mover and shaker, which explains why she looks miserable in this picture where I made her lie down. She would much rather be crawling, standing, climbing, and exploring!

She loves to sing and talk to you and will do anything to get and keep your attention! She is making lots of sounds like "ooooh, dadda, lala, yaya, and babba."

She is very into her toys and books these days, and it is so much fun to watch her play. She likes to bang her toys, play her little piano, and her favorite game is probably dropping things from her high chair. :) Nothing makes me more happy than how excited she gets when we read a couple of her favorite books.

I love when she reaches out to be picked up, held, or hugged. Plus, she has mastered the "cling on to your shirt trick" when being put down for a nap. Sheesh.

Abby is loving her Stage 1 baby foods, she is down to 2 naps a day (usually), and wouldn't you know she is back to waking up twice at night? :) Hopefully by next month I will have had the strength to just say no.... here's to hoping!

On the Move

This week was a big one for the munchkin, and subsequently for her parents and grandparents as well!! The girl's on the move!

I knew from the day she was born when she literally lifted her head off my chest and looked around that she was one curious little booger! That curiosity just continues to grow - she wants to look at and study everything! And this week she decided that she was going to go over there AND. SEE. IT. HERSELF!

And pull up on it. And let go.

Granted, her little leggies aren't quite strong enough to stand on her own, and her balance isn't quite there yet.

But chica is definitely going for it.

Love her.

Stacey

P.S. Yes, that's her Common Grounds onesie. :) "Sleep is Overrated."
